A day in the Life

8:40-8:55

Morning Arrival

The children arrive and put their belongings away. We always encourage the children’s independence by hanging their coats on their pegs themselves and support them where necessary. We say goodbye to our grown ups at the door and then find something to play with.

9:00-9:05

Registration

When the bells ring, we sit on the carpet for the register and count how many children are here today.

9:05-9:20

RWI Phonics/ Family Time

The pre-school aged children do RWI phonics with the nursery teacher whilst the younger children have family time. This often consists of songs, stories and music and movement.

9:20–10:35

Choosing time with Rolling Snack

We get to choose where we would like to do our learning. We can go outdoors or inside. At 10 O’clock the snack café opens and we can go and have our snack.

Tidy Up Time

Everyone works as a team to tidy up and re-set our environment.

10:45–11.00

Early Maths/ Family Time

The pre-school aged children do their maths learning with the nursery teacher whilst the younger children have family time. This often consists of maths games, songs and activities.

11:05-11:25

Nature walk/ Fairy Gardens

Each day we go on a walk around the school. Sometimes we go to the fairy gardens to explore the forest area whilst other days we go on a walk around the school grounds.

Story time/ singing time

When we’re back in the nursery building we have a story time with some singing too!

11:40–11:45

Wash hands/get ready for lunch

We wash our hands and get our lunchboxes or find our hot school meals.

11:50–12:15

Lunch

We have lunch in nursery and sit with our friends. We either have a lunchbox from home or a hot school meal. In Summer Term, the pre-school aged children have lunch in the school hall with YR, Y1 and Y2 to prepare them for going to school.

12:15–1:00

Choosing time outside

After lunch we go outside. We often go in the slide area where we get to climb on the climbing frame and play in the sandpit. On a Tuesday and Thursday the morning children go home.

Registration

We start our afternoon with the register.

1:10–1:20

PE/Ring Games/Music/Movement/ Themed Topic

Each day we have a different focus. Some days we do PE such as gymnastics in the school hall or multi-skills on the MUGA with the sports coaches whilst other days we might do some learning around our theme.

1:20–2:25
